I’m worried. I’m worried about something that is—actually—nice. And I’m sorry to write something against the development of this project. It’s all about PICOL. But, what is PICOL ?

PICOL stands for Pictorial Communication Language
and is a project to find a standard and reduced sign
system for electronic communication. PICOL is free
to use and open to alter

First of all, I want to say that I approve this project. I like the idea, it’s nice and smart. But there’s a “but”.

When you look, for the first time, at the icons, you’ll probably be impressed; the work is perfect, all the icons you’ve could think about are included. Then, you’ll imagine you could have made these icons, that you’re able to make greater and cooler icons—no. Finally, if you think a lot, you realize there’s something wrong.

Icons shapes are rough, they aren’t modern, this is bothering me. We could’ve done something far more innovative ones. The shapes look like they could have been drawned a century ago. The first thing you’ll think is that our mind has saved too many icons and logos. This is true, ask the nearest graphic designer you can catch. Well, boy, this has to change. I don’t know who is going to design these mystical icons, but I’m confident someone will take care of it someday.

Now, and as always, we should wait & see if the PICOL project is going to work.
